Common Gutter Repairs

Most gutter problems fall into a handful of categories. We'll inspect, quote clearly, and carry out only the work that's needed.

Leaking Joints

Failed union seals or joint clips allow water to drip or pour. We reseal with appropriate gutter sealant and replace clips where needed.

Cracked Sections

UV-degraded or impact-cracked gutter sections are replaced like-for-like. We carry the most common uPVC profiles.

Sagging Gutters

Failed or missing brackets allow sections to sag, collecting debris and overflowing. New brackets are fitted at the correct centres.

Downpipe Blockages

Stubborn blockages that vacuum extraction can't clear are rodded through to restore full flow.

Leaking Outlets

Where the gutter meets the downpipe, outlet fittings can crack or unseat. We replace and reseal.

Gutter Realignment

Gutters should fall slightly toward the downpipe. Where the fall is wrong or gutters are level, we reposition brackets to restore drainage.

Our Repair Process

1
Clean first We always clean gutters before assessing for repair. A thorough clean reveals the true condition of the gutter — joints hidden under debris often turn out to be fine, and problems invisible from outside become obvious.
2
Honest inspection & report We photograph everything and compile a short condition report. If repair is needed, we quote it clearly — part by part. If everything is fine, we say so.
3
Carry out agreed repairs Repairs are carried out on the same visit where possible, or booked for a separate appointment. We don't start work you haven't approved.
4
Check & confirm After repairs, we check water flow and take final photos. You get a complete before-and-after record of the work carried out.

Gutter Repair FAQs

How do I know if my gutter needs repairing or replacing?
Isolated leaking joints or cracked sections can usually be repaired. If gutters are heavily cracked throughout, consistently sagging, or the material has become brittle, replacement is more cost-effective. We'll assess after cleaning and advise honestly.
Can you match replacement gutter sections to my existing gutters?
In most cases, yes. We carry standard uPVC ogee, half-round, and square profile sections. For older or non-standard profiles we'll source a match or advise on the nearest compatible replacement.
Do you use sealant or replacement clips for leaking joints?
Joints that are leaking due to failed union clips are better repaired with a new clip and fresh sealant. Old, cracked joint sealant alone won't hold long-term — we replace the clip where possible.
What causes gutters to sag?
Sagging usually means the bracket spacing is too wide, a bracket has failed, or the fascia the bracket is screwed into is rotten. We'll identify the cause and advise — sometimes it's a quick bracket replacement, sometimes the fascia needs attention first.
